Boycott Emeryville?

This site was created to determine what level of frustration exists against the traffic ticket camera system set up by Emeryville, CA.

If enough people are as frustrated as I am, then should a boycott against Emeryville be started?

Please add comments below and let's share stories. I have some other ideas to help assure that no other citizens are trapped by Emeryville the way I was, but first want to see if this is just me being annoyed or if there are others.

The cameras are here:
Christie Avenue at Powell
Horton Street at 40th Street
Hollis Street at 40th

  1. Just got a $436 ticket for turning right on a red at 40th and Horton. WTF!??? Looking around the web for solutions to this out of control shakedown.

  2. It's an outrageous fee that does not match the crime. I won't be going back to Emeryville anytime soon.

  3. I also the the same fine at the same intersection! Maybe we should go to court on the same day to plead our case? I was laid off 6 months ago, there's no way I can pay this fine! A right turn? Come on!

  4. Got my right turn ticket in the mail today. This is sheer lunacy. Prospects for fighting this don't look good.

  5. Write to Ikea, Best Buy, the hotels that are in Emeryville and tell them why you will never spend another dime in that city, and tell your friends and family to boycott this rip off city as well!

  7. As an Oakland resident I am chagrined for having supported Emeryville businesses, and now smarting from a $500 ticket for a "rolling right" into a parking lot. The punishment hardly fits the crime.

One also wonders why the City of Emeryville is so enthusiastically supportive of an Arizona-based business (RedFlex) during a time when many cities are boycotting Arizona for their passage of SB-1070 ('anti-immigrant bill').

I am proud to reside in a City that has taken a strong position against Arizona at this time, that does not pursue regressive fundraising targeting moderate to low income people, and I will keep my business outside of Emeryville. I encourage others to do the same, and to pressure the City Council of Emeryville to stop this insanity.
